🌍 Normalize & Universalize
2 minutes
What it is
A quick mental practice to help ease shame or isolation by remembering you're not the only one struggling.
When to use it
- After a setback or mistake
- When you feel like you're the only one going through something
- In moments of self-criticism or embarrassment
How to do it
- Pause and acknowledge what you're feeling. (Example: "I feel disappointed," or "This is really hard right now.")
-
Gently remind yourself of a broader truth. Try one of these phrases—or use your own:
- "Suffering is a part of life."
- "I'm not alone in what I'm feeling."
- "Others go through this too."
- "Everyone struggles sometimes."
- Let it sink in. Take a breath. Feel the shift from isolation to shared humanity.
