🌍 Normalize & Universalize

2 minutes

What it is

A quick mental practice to help ease shame or isolation by remembering you're not the only one struggling.

When to use it

  • After a setback or mistake
  • When you feel like you're the only one going through something
  • In moments of self-criticism or embarrassment

How to do it

  1. Pause and acknowledge what you're feeling. (Example: "I feel disappointed," or "This is really hard right now.")
  2. Gently remind yourself of a broader truth. Try one of these phrases—or use your own:
    • "Suffering is a part of life."
    • "I'm not alone in what I'm feeling."
    • "Others go through this too."
    • "Everyone struggles sometimes."
  3. Let it sink in. Take a breath. Feel the shift from isolation to shared humanity.
